Historic paths along the water

Algund Water Trail to Merano

The water accompanies every step: the well-known Waalweg is an integral part of a holiday in South Tyrol. As one of the country’s most beautiful waterways, it runs almost flat from the Töll via the village to the spa town, offering views of the Merano region.

The trail is around six kilometres long and takes about two hours to walk. The starting point is very close by – directly accessible from your holiday apartment.

Of vines and peaks

Hiking in Algund

On foot is the best way to explore the surroundings. Paths through the valley and up into the heights lead through a landscape shaped by Mediterranean influences as much as by alpine clarity. Time and again, new perspectives and small discoveries open up.

A rewarding destination is the Trauttmansdorffer Thronsessel, which can be reached on many hikes with a short detour. From here, the view extends freely over the village and the entire Merano valley basin.

Long-distance cycle route with history

Cycling through the region

Around your holiday accommodation, there are a variety of cycling opportunities: from relaxing routes through blooming apple orchards to challenging tours towards the peaks and varied mountain bike trails.

The Via Claudia Augusta long-distance cycle route, a historic Roman road, connects Augsburg with Venice over 752 kilometres. A section runs from Lake Reschen in the Vinschgau valley via Algund to the spa town. Today, the old trade route is one of the best-known cycle paths and offers beautiful views along the way.
